From Miss India To Bollywood Actress

Time and again bollywood actresses have traveled two routes on their way to become actress. One being that of  family route (family being in bollywood) and other being beauty pageant.

Miss India beauty pageant have given many actresses , some of which have become superstars. Aishwarya Rai,priyanka chopra , juhi chawla , zeenat aman, celina jaitley , tanushree dutta , neha dhupia , shusmita sen have come from this route.

Now participating in beauty pageant and winning is considered to be stepping stone of entering bollywood!!!

But not everyone has been successful in making their mark using this route. Yukta mukhi , nafisa ali are examples of that while people like daina hayden have largely kept them away from being in bollywood. Daina did only one movie.

Here is list of miss India beauties who made it to bollywood.

1) Zeenat Aman :

Recently she was voted as sexiest bollywood actress ever , zeenat aman took bollywood by storm for her bold scenes in movies. When wearing bikini was big thing , she look comfortable in it. When heroines were seen in sarees , she was seen smoking playing hippies. When showing skin was sin in bollywood , she did shyam shivam sundharam.
But zeenat was more than just skin show. She proved her acting talent in movies like roti kapda and Insaaf Ka Tarazu.

Zeenat undoubtedly remains the iconic figure in bollywood.

2) Juhi Chawla:

One of most successful actresses of bollywood , juhi still appears in supporting roles in movies. Juhi-Aamir took bollywood by storm by their movie 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'. Slowly juhi rose in her career and began to make her mark in industry which was ruled by two divas , sridevi and madhuri dixit. She went on to give many hits like darr, hum hai rahi pyaar ke , yes boss. She also ventured into producing movies along with aziz mirza and king khan. She also is co owner of srk's IPL team.

3) Aishwary Rai :

Superstar aish is most recognized face outside India . She has worked in bollywood as well as cross over films. Her next movie would be ravana which stars her hubby abhishek too. At 36 , she still is going strong and is one of biggest brands of India in world of ads.

4) Sushmita Sen :

She became Miss Universe and soon entered bollywood. Though she has not been as successful as aishwarya rai , she has still been able to make her mark as actress . Known for her class sushmita is busy selecting India's representative for Miss Universe title.

5) Priyanka Chopra :

Currently she is one of topmost actresses of bollywood. Known for her different roles in every movie , she would be next seen playing wife of seven men!!!!!.

6) Lara Dutta :

She became miss universe in same year that saw priyanka become miss world. Lara dutta too made her entry in bollywood and has made her mark specially in comedy movies.

7) Dia Mirza :

India was lucky to have miss world , miss universe and miss earth in same year with dia becoming miss earth when lara and priyanka had their own crown. Dia has not been able to give many hits in her stay in bollywood. Largely she is seen in multistarrer movies and supporting roles such as in lage raho munnabhai. she has still managed to stay around and we hope she establishes herself anytime soon.

8) Namarata Shirodkar :

Her sister shilpa gave more hits than namarata. She does have few hits like vastav and pukar in her film journey. But vastav was overshadowed by king size role of sanjay dutt while pukar was madhuri's show along with anil kapoor. She got married and is no more seen in movies.

9) Gul Panag :

Known as actress with brain , gul has been appreciated for her roles in movies like dor , Summer 2007 ,    Manorama Six Feet Under to name few. Gul is thinking individual who keeps on expressing herself on various issues . She is active twitter users , maintains a blog and is vocal about issues.

10) Neha Dhupia :

She made headlines when she made her famous statement about shahrukh khan . She became talk of town with her bold scenes in movie julie. Later she became supporting actress in big budget movies while lead actress in hatke movies of vinay pathak team.

11) Celina Jaitley :

She was born in Afghanistan. Her father is Indian while mother is afghani. She is known face of bollywood though she has managed to give only few hits. She is active for gay rights in India.

12) Tanushree Dutta :

Well she made headlines for kisses with serial kisser emraan hashmi. That was her first movie . After that she has done few movie but it was more about skin show than acting. Her upcoming movie apartment does have good role for her which might have her display her acting skills.
