Bajaj Auto is out with its own version of four wheeler, the two wheeler gaint is well known name in India. Infact it is one of the names which every Indian is aware of. Bajaj auto's scooter was the vehicle for middle for long time , till Bikes became the vehicle for middle class . Bajaj auto seemed to lost the plot in comparison to hero honda but soon it recovered itself .Bajaj's launched products like pulser which went on to become brand in itself.

Now Bajaj auto is coming into four wheeler which is speculated to be INR 1,80,000 worth which obviously puts it in competition with world's cheapest car Nano from tata motors.

Bajaj claims that its prime target customer is three wheeler market which is led by Bajaj itself. Bajaj is targetting 5 million of three wheeler market of India.

Bajaj is targetting other markets like sri lanka too where it is speculated RE60 would be launched first. Bajaj sells 10,000 units a month to sri lanka alone and unlike India , in sri lanka three wheeler is used for personal purpose too rather than public transport as is case with India.

Bajaj auto wants to convert its three wheeler customers to RE60 and expects in ten years to get complete conversion.

So what are features of RE60?

200 cc rear mounted petrol engine
Top speed of 70 Kmph
Mileage of 35 Kmpl
44-litre boot space
95-litre under seat storage
Digital twin spark tech engine DTSi 4
Emission of 60 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer

It would be interesting to see how rickshaw walas perceive this new product from bajaj auto. While Nano was targeted by tatas for bike/scooter people with family of four , it did make way into taxis at few places. How RE60 would fare in the market is to be seen.

Tata Nano Created lot of buzz when it was launched but today Tata is struggling to get intended market . Would RE60 go the way Nano did or would it achieve its intended market and would it be good bye to good old rickshaw?. Would we see RE60 rule to road in public transport segment?. Too early to predict or say anything but one thing can be safely said and it is that RE60 like Tata Nao has managed to create enough buzz in the market and in totality such attempts are good because it would pave way to make cheaper , better , environmental friendly products in this segment of first car or three wheeler market.

Would humhara bajaj do what Tata Ka Bharosha could not?...Let wait to see what time unveils...
