1) Dil Chahta Hai :

The movie earned saif ali khan award in comedy category and is one of finest works of Indian cinema. Dil chahta hai was directorial debut of mega talented farhan khan.

The story revolves around three friend aamir khan , akshay khanna and saif ali khan. Aamir Khan is carefree guy who thinks there is nothing called love in the world. Akshay khanna is a painter who falls in love with woman who is much older than him. Saif ali khan is gullible guy who falls for every girl he meets. He is dil fek type of person.

Saif Ali Khan's comic timing was great in this movie and he excels in his role. Aamir khan is as usual perfect in his performance. Akshay khanna is perhaps one of most underated actor in the industry. His role was difficult which he plays to perfection.

2) Hum Tum :

Saif Ali Khan plays cartoonist in the movie.No not cartoon but cartoonist. The movie revolves around rani,saif who have various encounters in number of years. Rani marries abhishek bachchan who dies within one year of marriage. Saif meets rani again and tries to get his friend married to her. Eventually he realizes that he loves rani and finally both unite.

3) Parineeta :

Parineeta introduced vidhya balan to bollywood. Saif Ali Khan played rich childhood friend of vidhya. Slowly friendship develops into love but both get separated due to misunderstandings and eventually meet again to get reunited. Inspired from novel of 1914 , parineeta was movie set up in 1960 era. Saif did a wonderful job in the movie defying his critics .

4) Salaam Namaste :

Salaam Namaste is movie about two desis in australia . They meet , start living together without marriage. Preity gets pregnant. Saif not ready for this , wants preity to abort. Preity refuses to do so and this results in problems between then , leading to breakup before reunion .

Finally preity gives birth to twins and like most bollywood films ,there is happy ending.
Saif's role was happy go merry types . He loves to sleep till late , is laid back . People joked that it came naturally to saif and so he didn't act in the movie!!!!!!!

5) Love Aaj Kal :

Movie which was produced by saif ali khan , himself and directed by imtiaz ali was blockbuster. Interestingly this was back to back blockbuster by Imtiaz ali who made 'Jab we met' with saif's present girl friend kareena and her previous boyfriend shahid kapoor.Saif ali khan plays double role in the movie.

The movie revolves around two different eras. Saif and deepika are ex couple who have moved on with their life. While saif stays in london , deepika is back in India.Both remained friends but both are working on with new relationship. Saif has blode girlfriend while deepika is reciprocating feelings of her boss.

Rishi kapoor plays a sardar who narattes his own love story. Saif ali khan plays young sardar version of rishi kapoor. Rishi explains how relationships were in those days. How he travels 1000 kms just to see face of his love.How he gets beaten up by family of her love and even after marriage of his love gets fixed , how he risks everything and elopes her.

Rishi convinces saif (modern) to go and meet deepika in India. He does so and interestingly both deepika and saif find that they still love their company.

Interestingly deepika is proposed by her boss , same day when saif has to leave for london. Saif leaves decision of her and goes back. Deepika gets married to her boss but understands her mistake.

Saif on other hand land up with his dream job in usa. Deepika conveys how she feels about her marriage to her boss and calls saif. Saif is too excited about job than deepika and dejected deepika goes back to her boss.

While in usa , saif is robbed by thugs. He refuses to give pic of deepika to them and risks his life for the pic. This makes him realize how important deepika is for him and comes to India to find her. He meets her boss who tells saif that deepika left his house , same day that saif got job of usa. Finally couple reunite.

Essence of the movie was that eras may change , priorities may change as per eras but true love remains same in every era.

6) Kurbaan :

This movie was one of most awaiting movies of 2009 but it failed to impress audience. Real life couple kareena kapoor and saif ali khan play reel life couple in the movie.

Saif ali khan plays a fanatic  muslim terrorist who marries hindu girl kareena and uses her to enter usa. Kareena being usa citizen , saif enters usa on spouse visa.

Saif already has group of terrorist waiting for him to enter usa. Their plan is to bomb subway as revenge of USA's war in afghanistan.While saif uses kareen as pawn , eventually he ends up falling in love with her. He discovers that kareena is pregnant and finally he kills himself without exploding bombs in subway.

His team too gets killed/captured by police with help of vivek oberoi and kareena kapoor.

7) Race :

Race is thriller which went of to become one of biggest hits in career of saif. The movie revolves around two step brothers , saif ali kha and akshay khanna. The movie is one of few movies in which all characters have gray shades. Saif's love interest was bipasha basu in the movie.


8) Omkara :

This is perhaps best work of saif ali khan , till date. Saif ali khan was born in royal family , has studied in europe/usa and because of his elite upbringing he was considered to be unfit for roles of common middle class man and rural man. But this movie changed the way Industry viewed saif ali khan. He not only accepted challenge of playing langda tyagi but excelled in his role. The movie is set in north Indian background where ajay devgan is leader of a gang whose role is helping politicians in their political ambitions. Saif plays one of main man of ajay devgan. The other being vivek oberoi. Ajay devgan is all set to get elected and enter politics in coming elections. He decides to make vivek oberoi his successor.
