1) Sonia Gandhi :

Born Italian , sonia gandhi married rajiv gandhi. Now those who know about how politics of India runs, post nehru and shashtri era know that if one is born in Gandhi parivar or is married to someone from Gandhi parivar , you are most likely to become prime minister someday. Only condition is that you show be from Nehru-Indira-Rajiv line. Sonia gandhi did fall in love with rajiv gandhi , got married to him and stayed away from politics. She even wanted rajiv to stay away from politics. But rajiv joined politics after death of his younger brother and became prime minister after death of his mother Indira gandhi.

Once Rajiv got killed by terror attack ,sonia refused to join politics. Years later she returned to politics and now is most powerful woman in India. Having played important role in making congress win back to back elections , sonia is congress party head and upa chairperson. 2) Mayawati :

Chief minister of largest state of India , mayawati also happens to be one of richest woman of India!!!. Dalit ke beti as she calls herself stormed to power in uttar pradesh by her unique strategy called social engineering. Her politics is largely based on caste politics . She is accused of wasting public fund in erecting her own statues!!!!!!!!.

Recently she bailed center government out during opposition cut motion in parliament. Mayawati controls her party totally and is seen as strong force other than BJP and Congress. She dreams of becoming prime minister of India someday and knowing her history no one can dismiss her.

3) Mamta Banerjee :

You cant beat communists in west Bengal was accepted fact few years back but mamta pledge to do so. Considering her party's performance in loksabha and municipal election , she is soon projected to be next chief minister of west bengal. The fire brand leader of TMC , mamta is currently railway minister of India and largest ally in upa. Mamta has rose to prominence in west bengal.

4) Sushma Sawaraj :

Unlike above three ladies , sushma does not have total hold on her party BJP. While above three parties have these ladies whose decision is considered to be final , sushma does have say in party decisions but BJP's decisions are often influenced by senior leaders in which l.k.advani is most powerful. BJP also takes RSS seriously and doesnot go against RSS's decisions.

Sushna sawaraj is currently leader of opposition in lok sabha.

5) Jayalalithaa :

She is serving third term as chief minister of delhi since 1998.Sheila is powerful leader who has led a movement in 1990s in uttar pradesh and had served 23 day in jail. Belonging to congress and being chief minister of delhi , she often get overshadowed by center government faces.
