There have been superstars of bollywood , there have been shahenshah of bollywood , there have been badshahs of bollywood but there have been few superstar makers , badshah , shahenshah makers in bollywood.

Kings have come , kings have gone but the king maker called yash chopra has stayed on . He is called the most powerful man of bollywood . The director , producer and distrbutor yash raj chopra has been instrumental in making superstars out of actors and immortal beauties out of actresses. This hub is dedicated to the yash chopra-the director.

Here is list of few of best works of yash chopra :

1) Waqt : The movie was pioneer in multi starrer movies. It had balraj sahani , raj kumar, shashi kapoor , sunil dutt , sadhana, sharmila tagore in the film. The movie is based on lost and found formula where balraj looses his entire family due to earthquake . The eldest son raj kumar becomes thief while sunil being adopted by rich parents is doing ok and shashi lives with his mother. The movie has immortal song 'Ae Meri Zohra Jabeen' and 'aage bhi zaane na tu'. Rajkumar's dialogue 'jinke ghar sheeshe ke hote hain' and 'yeh bacho ke khelne ki cheez nahi' are still used in various shows. This movie was produced by yash's elder brother B.R.Chopra and directed by yash raj chopra.

2) Daag : Poem Of Love : Rajesh Khanna was already a big big star when he signed daag. Daag went on to become one of biggest hits and earned rakhi , her first filmfare award. The movie revolved around three characters , rajesh , rakhi and sharmila.

Rajesh falls for sharmila and get married soon. On their honeymoon , the traditional bad boy , prem tries to rape sharmila and rajesh khanna kills him. He is given life term for his crime .While on his way to jail , the van meets accident which kills everyone except hero , rajesh khanna. Rajesh hides his identity and takes refuge at rakhi's place. Rakhi is pregnant with prem chopra's child and to safeguard her reputation , rajesh khanna gets married to rakhi!!!!. The movie like most yash raj films had wonderful songs .

3) Deewar : A cult movie which had everything in it. Angry young man , amitabh bachchan , salim-javed as script writer and yash raj as director. The movie is one of biggest hit in career of Big B. Well written dialogues made immortal by Big B still remain fresh in minds of bollywood lovers. 'Bhai tum sign karoge ke nahi' , 'Mein aaj bhi pheke hue paise nahi uthata' ,'Dhandha to tumko karna nahi aata' , 'Aaj khush to bahout honge tum' are dialogue which set boxoffice on fire.

4) Kabhi Kabhie : Again a classic from yash chopra. The movie had rakhi , shashi kapoor , amitabh bachchan , waida rehman , neetu singh and rishi kapoor along with simi garewal in the movie. The movie had fabulous timeless im mortal songs. The movie is about love and how two people who are once lover travel different paths but destiny makes them meet again and this time they become in laws of their respective offsprings.

5) Trishul : This is my personal favorite movie of amitabh bachchan. The movie was based on father-estrange son relationship where son was played by amitabh while father was played by sanjeev kumar. Sanjeev kumar dumps waida rehman to get married to daughter of rich builder. Waida is pregnant with amitabh bachchan. Sanjeev kumar on other hand has shashi kapoor and poonam dillon as his children from his second wife. Sanjeev kumar wents on to built on already successful business and becomes one of prominent builders of the city. Amitabh bachchan after death of waida sets to take revenge with his father. He opens his
own buisness as competitor of sanjeev kumar and destroys sanjeev kumar's business. The movie has happy ending though with amitabh being accepted by sanjeev's other family and sanjeev kumar himself before he dies saving amitabh bachchan.

6) Silsila : Rekha and amitabh bachchan are rumored to be lover at some point of time and silsila movie played its part in giving fuel to the rumor. Amitabh bachchan lives with his brother shashi kapoor who is in air force. Amitabh bachchan is in love with rekha while shashi is in love with jaya bhaduri. Jaya is pregnant but before shashi could marry her , he dies in air crash. Amitabh decides to marry jaya while heart broken rekha is left with no option but to move on. She settles with sanjeev kumar. Co incidentaly jaya has miscarriage . Amitabh and jaya get drifted apart and amitabh meets rekha again , co incidentally. Their love re ignites and soon their secret affair goes public. Finally both bow to social pressures and traditional programming . Silsila had some memorable songs as been strong suite of yash chopra movies. His holi song- 'Rang barse' has become part of holi celebrations while 'yeh kahan aa gaaye hum' is timeless classic.

7) Mashaal : Anil kapoor won filmfare award in supporting actor category for this movie. Dilip kumar played the lead role in the film. Dilip plays a principal minded , law abiding man who grooms anil kapoor . While he sends anil kapoor for studies , incident is his life makes him disillusioned and while seeking revenge he used unlawful means. When anil returns he comes to know about changed dilip kumar. What follows is tussle between two men.

8) Chandini : Sridevi's one of best movies chandini revolved around sridevi's character called chandini. Sridevi and rishi kapoor are couple who plan to get married before an accident occurs which lands rishi kapoor on wheel chair. Rishi's family accuses sridevi for being reason for rishi's accident. Already facing the heat , final nail in their love's coffin occurs when rishi too blames her. Disheartened sridevi moves to another city where she meets vinod khanna. Vinod is successful business man who lost his wife who was suffering from fatal disease. Vinod develops liking for sridevi and wants to marry her. Rishi goes for operation and is being able to walk again. During his foreign stay he meets vinod khanna and becomes good friend of his.Rishi had blamed sridevi to make her settle down for normal man. Now being in perfect health , he tries to enter sridevi's life again to find the sridevi is going to get married to vinod khanna. Like most bollywood films , vinod gives way to get two lovers united again.

9)Lamhe : The movie was far ahead of its time. The movie was not commerical success like most of yash raj movies.But with passage of time , more and more people liked the movie making it as cult movie. This movie is considered to be finest work of yash chopra. Anil kapoor plays a prince who falls in love with sridevi who is already in love with someone. Sridevi marries to her lover but meets with an accident and dies. Sridevi before dying does give birth to a girl child.

Anil kapoor doesnot see the girl child since she is born on day his love interest had died. Never the less anil kapoor makes sure that she is provided with best of things in the world. He himself settles in london while waida rehman takes care of girl child. Girl child becomes adult and looks exactly like her mother. She loves anil kapoor since her childhood and goes to london to meet him. She confesses her love for anil . Anil is shocked to hear that daughter of his love , loves him and rejects the proposal. Finally anil kapoor accepts the idea and movie ends on positive note.

10) Darr : If dil wale gave badshah to bollywood foundation was laid by movies like darr . Shahrukh Khan stole the show in role of obessed lover who does everything under the sun to win his love juhi. Juhi on other hand loves sunny deol and marries him. SRK tries to kill sunny many times and finally truth is revealed to juhi and sunny about srk. Shahrukh Khan plays his part of obessed pscho lover to perfection.
